Acne is understood in Ayurveda as a Pitta-Kapha imbalance — excess heat and oil clogging the skin channels (Srotas). Neem (Nimba) is considered the supreme skin-purifying herb in Ayurveda, with powerful antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. Combined with turmeric, which inhibits the acne-causing bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, and cooling rose water, this face mask addresses all three factors of acne: bacterial infection, inflammation, and excess sebum. Research suggests neem leaf extract demonstrates significant antibacterial activity against multiple acne-related bacteria.

Ingredients

  • Neem Powder1 tbsp
  • Raw Honey1/2 tsp (for dry areas)
  • Rose WaterEnough to make a paste
  • Turmeric Powder1/2 tsp

Dosage Guidance

Mix neem powder and turmeric with rose water to form a smooth paste. Apply evenly to clean face, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 15—20 minutes until semi-dry. Rinse with lukewarm water using gentle circular motions. Apply 2—3 times per week. Follow with a light, non-comedogenic moisturizer. Turmeric may temporarily stain skin yellow — this fades within an hour.

Always consult an Ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare provider for personalized dosage recommendations.

Contraindications & Warnings

  • Patch test before first use to rule out sensitivity.
  • Turmeric may stain light-colored fabrics.
  • If acne is severe or cystic, consult a dermatologist.
